The Welcome Bench
The entryway is the first room and the last — the place where arrivals happen and departures are gathered. This bench is designed for that threshold moment: a seat for pulling shoes on and off, and a slatted lower shelf that keeps the floor clear without making the clutter invisible entirely. Shoes belong here. That’s the point.
The piece is cherry throughout, with mortise and tenon joinery at every connection. What lifts it beyond the purely functional are the curves — a gently arched apron and flared legs that give the bench a light, almost playful stance. It stands in an entryway the way a good host does: useful, welcoming, and quietly good-looking.
Built to order; dimensions can be varied to suit the space.
