Andon

The andon is one of the oldest Japanese lamp forms — a simple paper-screened box that turns light into atmosphere. This early piece follows that tradition closely, letting the materials speak without embellishment.

The frame is walnut, with proud joinery at the corners that makes the construction legible and intentional. The screens are mulberry paper embedded with fragments of dried plant material, so each panel holds its own quiet texture — bits of leaf and stem suspended in the sheet, revealed when the lamp is lit.

Understated and versatile, the andon suits a bedside table, a reading corner, or anywhere a warm and gentle light is welcome. Available in battery or wired configurations, and made to order with paper chosen to suit the setting.
